FGF5 is a natural protein produced in the scalp that stops hair growth and initiates hair fall. In a normal, healthy hair cycle, the hair fall is followed by the emergence of a new hair from stem cells in the scalp. However, if you are stressed, have hormonal changes, inadequate nutrients, are responsive to DHT or have a genetic predisposition, too much FGF5 can build up in the scalp resulting in excess hair fall, slow growth, poor quality hair and ultimately hair loss. This process can also happen as we age. By blocking the action of FGF5, the negative impact of this protein can be halted or reversed, resulting in increased growth, reduced hair fall and better quality, youthful hair.

Our Prevent range is OK for you to use. Our Reverse and Promote ranges contain hydrolysed wheat, but this has been extensively broken down and it is unlikely to be allergenic. As most individuals’ gluten sensitivity or reactivity occurs in the gut, and évolis® is a topical product, it is highly unlikely that any of the product will reach the sensitive area. If you'd like to use either the Reverse or Promote range and you are worried, it may be safer to do a spot test first. We can send out some samples of Promote for you to try.

If you suffer from a skin condition such as eczema, psoriasis or sensitive skin we recommend you do a spot test to ensure no irritation will occur before proceeding with daily use of the product. If irritation should occur, stop using the product immediately, if symptoms persist consult your health care professional. If in doubt, please consult your doctor before using the product. Always read the label, use only as directed.

Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) is a hormone found in men and women. In men, DHT is at higher levels than women and contributes to the development of masculine characteristics, such as larger muscles and body hair. In some people, DHT is thought to contribute to hair loss.
évolis® 'let there be hair' supplement contains Saw Palmetto which is known to help slow down the production of the DHT hormone.

Most types of hair loss are due to a disturbance in the normal hair growth cycle. évolis® may help those with hair loss where the hair growth cycle has been disrupted.
This will include:
- Hormonal activity, menopause, post-partum hair loss
- Illness, fever
- Stress and lifestyle
- Androgenic Alopecia or Male Pattern Baldness
- Telogen Effluvium
évolis® should not be used in those with autoimmune hair loss (e.g. alopecia areata) or to prevent hair loss due to chemotherapy.

No, once the hair follicle has become dormant or has died, our products can no longer assist in hair growth.

These types of alopecia are not caused by a disruption in the hair growth cycle. These types of hair loss are due to an autoimmune disorder, where the body treats the hair as a foreign body and rejects the hair, resulting in hair loss. A trichologist or dermatologist must treat this type of hair loss. Once the underlying cause has been treated, évolis® can be used to help support hair growth and ensure hair grows in the best possible environment.

Please speak to your doctor about your specific treatment programme. Some treatments for cancer can result in hair loss, évolis® will not be able to prevent this. Thankfully, chemotherapy or radiotherapy induced hair loss is reversible. Under your doctor’s guidance, évolis® may be used once your treatment is complete and your hair is beginning to grow back.

Thyroid issues can cause hair loss. Both overactive and underactive thyroid can result in hair loss and thinning. This can be a generalised thinning all over the scalp or, if you have an autoimmune thyroid condition, you may be more susceptible to autoimmune hair loss such as alopecia areata which appears as hair loss in a circular pattern.
Thyroid hormones can act directly on the hair follicle itself, causing a disruption of the hair cycle which can change the pattern of growth, resulting in more shedding or a change in the thickness of the hair that is growing.
The first thing you should do is see your physician to make sure your thyroid hormone levels are in check, without correcting these your hair challenges will be difficult to counteract.
Once your thyroid levels are stable, évolis® may be helpful in returning your hair cycle to a more normal pattern and help speed up the regrowth. We have seen some success in improving the appearance of hair in women with thyroid problems such as Hashimoto’s disease.

évolis® may help to counteract some of the effect, but we have no studies performed on individuals taking these types of medications so we cannot give a definite positive answer. Any results may depend on the medication and how strong the dose is.

évolis® can be used by any adult experiencing hair challenges or looking for longer, stronger, better quality hair. However, sudden changes in the hair should be referred to a physician, likewise hair loss or any hair changes in young people or children should also be referred to a physician.

évolis® works by targeting the hair's natural cycle. For most hair loss causes, there is a build of protein called FGF5 on the scalp. FGF5 attaches to the hair follicle and stops it from growing, leading to hair fall. Clinical studies have shown that blocking FGF5 can reduce hair loss, increase hair growth and improve the appearance of thinning hair.

You will need to use évolis® for a minimum of 16 weeks or 120 days to see significant results, but you will be able to notice a number of changes much sooner. Results you can expect include:
- Less hair fall in the first 30 days of use. This means less hair in the sink, on the brush or on your pillow.
- Change in hair texture to smoother and more manageable in 30-60 days of use
- Improvement in thinning areas in 60-90 days of use

We have not recorded any serious side effects in people using évolis® to date. People who suffer from a skin condition such as eczema, psoriasis or sensitive skin may experience irritation and/or a dry, itchy scalp.

If you decide to stop using évolis®, you will no longer be receiving the benefits of our active botanicals. While you won’t see an immediate impact, your hair will slowly return to where it was before you started using évolis®.

If you stop using évolis® the natural botanical actives will stop providing any benefit. This is a gradual, not a sudden, process and will not result in rapid hair fall. It is recommended that you use évolis® regularly to keep hair and scalp healthy and avoid excess hair fall.

Yes, you can certainly use evolis® with minoxidil. The way they work is quite different and you may find they boost each other. Just be mindful that stopping minoxidil suddenly can result in more shedding.

The recommended dose of ‘let there be hair’ is based on the maximum healthy levels the human body can take of the vitamins and minerals in this supplement. We would not recommend taking more than two a day as it would increase your levels of Zinc, which could lower your levels of copper and immunity and also affect your body in other ways like headaches, nausea, loss of appetite, among others.

Our évolis® Professional Activators and Hair Growth Tonics are based on the same botanical technology that addresses hair fall. The difference is that the Scalp Activators have been enhanced with additional botanicals to help address other hair concerns like dry, brittle hair, limp hair, rough texture, scalp issues, etc. The Hair Growth Tonics have a simpler formulation solely directed at hair growth and hair loss.

Follow these steps to open our Scalp Activators or Tonics:
Step 1: Twist the top of the bottle anti-clockwise until the centre self-dropper button pops up.

The cloudiness you see in this product is completely normal. We have a number of botanical ingredients in this product that don’t dissolve very easily in water. We have tried to keep the alcohol content as low as possible in this product, so sometimes we see them coming out of solution as small microspheres or micelles of essential oils.

We usually see an improvement on growth rate, hair fall, hair thickness and health after the second bottle is finished.
If there is no improvement, then it may be that there is some unknown driver of the hair fall that does not heavily involve the protein FGF5. FGF5 is ultimately the signal that makes hair leave its growth phase (anagen) and enter into rest (telogen). In most cases controlling FGF5 can be beneficial, but in some rarer circumstances other molecules are in play that overwhelm our capacity to control the issue.
Our experience is we can help ~80-90% of individuals with non-scaring hair loss. Unfortunately, no improvement can mean that there may be something else going on with your hair. We recommend seeing a dermatologist that specialises in hair. Some people require multiple approaches to help difficult cases, such as combinations of minoxidil, PRP, évolis®, etc. Sometimes drugs like spironolactone or finasteride are used if there is suspicion of hormonal involvement.

We are happy to accept a return for an item you’ve purchased from our store. All returns must be made within 30 days of purchase, or 90 days if the purchase was made between 1 November and 31 December.
